Indians edge Hazen

The Danville Indians traveled to Hardwick to take on the Hazen Wildcats and earned a hard-fought victory when the Wildcats last second shot rimmed out. Hazen out-scored the Indians by one in the fourth quarter but came up one point shy, 50-49.

The duo of Demitri Vasiliadis and Jake Drown carried the load offensively for the Wildcats as they scored 16 and 14-points, respectively. But it was a solid team effort by the Indians that earned the victory.

"Anytime you go to Hazen and play an Aaron Hill coached team, it takes a team effort to win and we got exactly that tonight," DHS coach Scott Rainville said. Eight players reached the scoring column for the Danville, who played without one of their team leaders, Tony Burrington, due to sickness. Kyle Johnson led the offense with a dozen points while Brett Elliott added nine.

"It was just a great team win," coach Rainville said repeatedly. A win that moved the Indians to 8-3 on the year. They will look to carry momentum into Friday's contest against Lake Region.

The DHS JV squad also earned a victory, winning by four.
