The Eagles and Badgers squared off for the second time in 11 days and unfortunately for the men, this matchup also resulted in a loss. The Badgers distributed scoring attack was too much on the afternoon as they upended the home side 88-63. The loss brings GMC’s overall record to 3-10 overall and 2-7 in North Atlantic Conference play. The win boosts the Badgers overall record to 4-12 while they sit at 4-6 in NAC games.
After freshman guard Jakerion Ales opened the scoring in the first half with a jumper, the Badgers would go on an 11-0 run in the span of two minutes to put the Eagles in catch up mode. The Eagles’ chipped away slowly, but could never find any consistency on the offensive end and found themselves down by 13 at the break.
Senior forward Brian Phelps led all scorers at the half with 13 points on an efficient 4-of-5 shooting from the floor and going 5-for-5 from the charity stripe. Junior guard Andy Bousono had nine points and three assists in support. Freshman guards Jack Hepburn and Kyle Middleton each had eight points at the intermission for the Eagles.
The second half would prove to be very similar as the first as Green Mountain was unable to make any headway into paring down the lead. The Badgers would lead by as many as 27 points before the final buzzer had the Badgers winning 88-63.
Phelps was the top point-getter for the Badgers as he finished with 15 points and also contributed eight rebounds. Junior forward Cody Camisa totaled eleven points in the game while sophomores Scott Moran and Billy Boyd added 13 and 12 points on the afternoon, respectively.
Green Mountain had four players score in double-digits with Middleton leading the way, scoring 14 points on 4-of-9 shooting and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Freshman forward Jeremiah Aponte had 12 points and six rebounds, while Hepburn and freshman forward Carnelius Green each had 11 points.
