Lyndon State College's Ben Sackett needed 14 points to reach the 1,000-point milestone for his career. The Hornets were also seeking their first win of the season. Both happened Saturday when the Hornets hosted Maine Maritime.
Sackett's 1,000th point came when he drilled a three-pointer late in the contest, helping LSC to their first win of the year, 81-56.
Jason Gray had 28 points to lead the Hornets to victory.
After the contest Sackett's daughter, Layla, stormed the court with a sign that said “My daddy scored 1,000 points.”
“It was magical,” Sackett said.
