Defending Div. IV champs too much once again for Danville

The potent offense of the defending Div. IV champions, Twinfield, proved to be too much for Danville in their first regular season matchup since last year's championship bout. Three players reached double figures for the Trojans, who pulled away in the second half to take down the Indians, 70-55.

Danville jumped out to an 18-15 first quarter lead and clung to a two point advantage at the half but the Trojans managed to out-score the Indians 38-21 in the final two quarters, including 21-10 in the fourth, to claim victory.

Brandon Gibbs led all scorers with 20 points as he paced the potent Twinfield offense that always saw big man Chad Copeland score 18 points. David Codling also scored 10.

Tony Burrington and Scott Remick provided a bulk of the offense for Danville as they knocked in 17 and 14-points, respectively.

"We played well for two and a half quarters," Danville coach Scott Rainville said. "But you have to play four quarters against a quality team like Twinfield."

The win lifts the Trojans to 8-1 on the season while Danville dips to 5-3. The Indians will look to shake the loss in a week when they host Div. III Peoples Academy, the only team who has beaten Twinfield this season.
