RUTLAND – Norwich University placed two players in double figures during a 75-31 non-conference win at the College of St. Joseph Nov. 29.

Senior guard Karissa Doyon (Beecher Falls, Vt.) continued her strong season start with 13 points and a perfect four-for-four night at the charity stripe. Freshman guard Kelsey Lotti (South Yarmouth, Mass.) came off the bench for her first career double-figure effort with 14 points to aid in Coach Mark Zacher’s squad’s first victory. Other key numbers for Norwich came from sophomore guard Kristin Brown (Williamstown, Vt.) with six assists and five steals and senior forward/center Kelsey Knapp (Brandon, Vt.) pulled down 10 rebounds as part of a 63-33 advantage on the glass.

NU used a 13-2 stretch midway through the first stanza to take the lead for good after trailing 6-4. The Maroon and Gold built the advantage to 12 (29-17) at halftime and then roared out of the gates in the second half by scoring 46 of the frame’s 60 points.

The Cadets return home to begin a season-high five-game home stand Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2-3. Norwich faces Maine-Fort Kent in one of two semifinals in the 2011 Ed Hockenbury Tournament inside Andrews Gymnasium at 6 p.m. Friday.
