Forkey's Hat Trick Leads Cadets Past St. Anselm 6-3

Norwich Junior Scores First Three Goals of Season in Win

Manchester, NH. --- A season of frustration took a dramatic positive turn for Norwich University's Blake Forkey on Friday night. Forkey, the junior from Boca Raton, Florida had missed thirteen of the Cadets' first eighteen games this season due to injury, and came into his sixth game on Friday night looking for his first point of the season. He got that and more ... netting a hat trick as the Cadets topped the St. Anselm Hawks 6-3 at Sullivan Arena.

With the game tied 1-1 twelve and a half minutes into the first period, Forkey won a faceoff in the Hawks' zone and drew it back to defenseman Owen Carpino at the right point. Forkey then tipped Carpino's point shot over the shoulder of St. A's goaltender Nick Dries to give Norwich the lead for good. Then with the Cadets leading 3-1 in the second period Forkey got his second of the game, burying the rebound of a Shane Gorman shot that came off the goal post. Finally in the third, with NU on the powerplay, Forkey took a pass in the slot from Pier Olivier Cotnoir and snapped it just inside the goal post to complete his three goal night.

Chris Duszynski and Gorman scored the other two goals and Parker Carroll made 16 saves as the Cadets ran their record to 17-1-1. They travel to New England College on Saturday.
