Norwich Women Rally to Beat Southern Maine 7-3

Freshmen Anderson and Gove Each Net a Pair for Cadets

Gorham, ME. --- The Norwich University women's hockey team rallied from a pair of two goal deficits, beating the Southern Maine Huskies 7-3 on Friday night.

The Huskies grabbed a 2-0 first period lead, despite being outshot by the Cadets 13-4. Norwich cut it to 2-1 on a Gove goal a minute into the second period. USM responded five minutes later, stretching the lead to 3-1, but the Cadets kept pounding away, outshooting the Huskies in the period 14-2, and a Marie-Philip Guay goal cut the lead to one at 7:26. Then with under a minute left in the second Anderson tied the game at 3-3.

That goal opened the flood gates, as the Cadets buried four goals in the third ... Gove netted the game winner at 5:08 ... Anderson added her second of the game a minute later ... and Stephanie Invernizzi chipped in her fourth of the season 42 seconds after that. Kayla Parsons tacked on an insurance goal late as the Cadets outshot USM for the night 43-7.

Now 17-2-1, the Cadets travel to Plymouth State on Saturday.
