Cadets Win Frozen Fenway Matchup With Babson

Gorman and Lindensmith Each Net a Pair in 4-1 Norwich Win

Boston --- Shane Gorman and Doug Lindensmith each score a pair of goals as the top ranked Norwich Cadets extended their record to 11-0-1 on Friday evening, beating the Babson Beavers 4-1 before 7,250 fans at Fenway Park.

Babson scored first, as PT Donato set up freshman Andrew Bonazza for a powerplay goal at the 6:24 mark of the first period. But Norwich responded at 12:05 as Gorman picked up the rebound of his own blocked shot and put it behind Beavers goaltender Zeke Testa. It was the only mistake of the period for Testa who stopped Norwich's sixteen other shots as the game went to the break tied at 1-1.

Norwich took advantage of a couple of beneficial bounces in the second. The first came on the powerplay at 3:12 as Lindensmth's centering pass from behind the net kicked off Babson defender Cody Carlson and past Testa to give the Cadets a 2-1 lead. Then less than a minute later at 3:12 Gorman threw one toward the net from the left wing corner, and the puck kicked off the inside of Testa's leg and into the cage for a 3-1 edge. Norwich then padded the lead as Pier Oliveier Cotnoir set up Lidensmith alone in the slot for a second powerplay goal of 18:22. Norwich outshot the Beavers in the second 12-6, and then cruised home in a scoreless third for the win.

Cadets goaltender Parker Carroll made 18 saves in picking up the win. Testa finished with 31 stops in the loss.

Norwich will finish the weekend in Boston on Saturday afternoon when they play at UMass-Boston.
