BURLINGTON, Vt. – Junior D.J. Edler scored twice in the second half to lead the Vermont Catamounts to a 3-1 victory over visiting Albany in America East men's soccer action at Centennial Field on Wednesday afternoon.

With the victory, the Catamounts clinch a spot in the America East Tournament and move to 8-6-1 overall and 3-2-1 in league play.  Albany falls to 4-9-3 on the season and remains winless in conference action, 0-3-3.

Senior Joe Losier scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season 16 minutes into the match to give UVM a 1-0 lead.  Vermont worked the ball down the left sideline and direct passes from Juan Peralta and Yannick Lewis led to a cross into the box, which Losier was able to one-time past Albany goalkeeper Adrian Foncette.

The Catamounts took the 1-0 lead into the break.

Just over 10 minutes into the second half, Edler headed in a corner kick from Peralta to push Vermont's lead to 2-0.  Peralta picked up his team-leading seventh assist on the play.

Albany sliced the lead to one in the 62nd minute.  The Great Danes were awarded a free kick near midfield.  Pomare Te Anau sent a ball into the top of the penalty box and Quintel Gates gathered it in and quickly turned and fired a shot that found the back of the net.  It was Gates' sixth tally of the season.

Vermont pushed its lead back to two on Edler's second goal of the game.  In the 76th minute, Malick Camara carried the ball down the right flank and sent a cross into the goal area.  Edler was there to head the ball past Foncette in stride for his fourth goal of the season.

Foncette finished the game with four saves for Albany, while Dave Ramada was credited with two saves for the Catamounts.
