Rensch Scores 19 in Rice's Second Win of the Season
South Burlington --- The Rice Memorial High School Green Knights opened up an eleven point first half lead, then held off a strong Burlington High comeback, before pulling away to 52-41 win over the Seahorses in their cross town rivalry showdown on Friday night on Bernie Cieplicki Court.
Leading 12-10 after the first quarter the Green Knights ran off the first eight points of the second, building the lead to eleven before the Seahorses rallied to cut it to seven at the break. Burlington's Stefan Radan then scored the first four points of the third quarter to pull BHS within three, but Rice answered with a 8-1 run to re-establish their double figure lead, and Burlington never got closer than eight the rest of the way.
Rice's Rensch led all scores with 19 points. Marcus Willingham added 14 and Casey Tipson added 10 for the winners. Radan scored 18, fifteen in the second half, to lead BHS, while Ho Nguyen added 15.
the Green Knights are 2-1. Burlington is 0-3.
