Rice opens 25 point lead on Route to 3rd straight victory
South Burlington --- The Rice Memorial High School Green Knights built a 25 point first half lead, then cruised to a 51-34 girls basketball victory over South Burlington on Thursday night on Bernie Cieplicki Court.
Senior guard Ellen Boucher put up 18 of her game high 23 points in the first half as Rice went up 32-7 before the Rebels scored the final four points of the half to trail 32-11 at the break. SB, which was shutout in the first quarter, came back to win the second half, outscoring Rice 23-19 after the break, but the horse had long since left the barn.
Cassidy Derda, a transfer from South Burlington scored nine points and Haiilee Barron added seven for Rice. Reilly Simoneau scored eight points, all in the second half to lead the Rebels. Sage Barton chipped in seven.
With the win Rice is 3-0. SB slips to 0-3.
