Bucks Jump Into Quick Lead ... Hold Off Indians in Season Opener

Blue Mountain Tops Danville 61-52

Danville --- The Blue Mountain Bucks jumped out to a quick 8-1 first quarter lead and were never headed, topping the Danville Indians 61-52 in their boys basketball season opener on Tuesday night at the Danville Gym.

Blue Mountain junior guard Kyle Farquharson keyed the fast start, scoring all eight of the points in the run. The Bucks built their lead to ten at 15-5 before the Indians regrouped, cutting the margin to 15-10 after one. Danville kept chipping away in the second quarter, climbing to within a point at 26-25, only to see the Bucks score the final six points of the half to take a 32-25 margin into the break.

The story was much the same in the second half as the Indians kept making runs on the Bucks, but each time Blue Mountain was able to answer the challenge, finally finishing the game on an 11-4 run to account for the final nine point margin.

Farquharson and senior Eddie Soucie shared high man honors for Blue Mountain with 16 points a piece. Damian Smith added 15. Point guard Scott Resnick led Danville with 15 points and Kyle Johnson came off the bench to chip in 10.
