Panther is second-team All-American for the second straight season

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Middlebury College men's basketball player Ryan Sharry (Braintree, Mass.) has been named a second-team All-American for the second straight season by the NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches). The senior was also named to the D3Hoops.com first-team All-American squad. Sharry is now a two-time All-American, joining former Panther Ben Rudin ’09 as the school’s only men’s basketball All-Americans.
Earlier this month, Sharry was named the NESCAC Player of the Year, as well as the D3Hoops.com Northeast District Player of the Year. He was a finalist for the prestigious Jostens Trophy, a national award created by the Rotary Club of Salem, Va., to honor the most outstanding men's and women's Division III basketball players of the year. The award takes into account three vital parts: basketball ability, academic prowess and community service.
Sharry led the NESCAC in scoring (18.8) and blocked shots (2.0), while ranking second in rebounding (10.3) and field goal percentage (.614) this season. His field goal percentage places him eighth nationally. Sharry had 16 double-doubles this season, giving him 39 in his four years as a Panther. He scored a career-high 41 points at Rensselaer on January 3rd, with a career-best 16 boards on February 4th vs. Colby.
Sharry finishes his career fifth all-time at Middlebury with 1,411 points. He gathered 901 rebounds (2nd), blocked 189 shots (2nd) and finished third in field goal percentage at 55.7% in 106 career games.
At last weekend’s Senior All-Star game at the Salem Civic Center in Virginia, Sharry was named the game’s most valuable player. He scored a team-high 20 points in the game, while grabbing a game-high 18 rebounds. Sharry went 7-10 from the floor with three assists and two blocks in just 18 minutes of play.
