Hornets Remain Unbeaten ... Roll Past Highlanders

Essex Now 8-0 After 9-3 Win Over Harwood

Essex Junction --- The Essex Hornets scored four goals in the first period, added five more in the second, and went on to a 9-3 win over the Harwood Highlanders on Wednesday night at the Essex Rink.

JT Begnoche and Joe Robertson tallied goals in the first three and a half minutes for a quick 2-0 ... then after Sam Boylans's goal for Harwood cut it to 2-1 at 7:23, Essex got goals from Steven Morse and Jack Cabanaw for a 4-1 lead after one. The Hornets outshot the Highlanders in the first 12-2.

Essex then blew the game wide open in the second, pounding home five more goals. Morse netted his second of the night at 2:36 ... Alex LeClair scored at 3:24 ... Steve Jurkiewicz buried a short handed goal at 4:57, then scored again at 8:44 ... and LeClair got his second of the night on the powerplay at 11:38.

With the Hornets content to sit on the lead Harwood's Erik Bertalan scored the only two goals of third to account for the final score.

Essex outshot Harwood for the night 30-16. Brock Paquette made 13 saves for the win.  Ben Nussbaum stopped 21 in the loss. With the win Essex is 8-0. Harwood slips to 1-6.
