PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team received a 21-save performance from junior Erin Stevens (Watertown, Conn./Connecticut Polar Bears) and skated to a 2-1 victory over Plymouth State University on Friday in an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East contest at Hanaway Rink. The Purple Knights earned their second straight ECAC East victory and improve to 3-15-1 overall and 2-12-1 in the ECAC East, while the Panthers drop to 1-14-3 and 1-10-2.

Senior Madelena Santore (Millington, N.J./New Jersey Rockets) and freshman Kristen Spulecki (Orchard Park, N.Y./Buffalo Bison) each tallied a goal and a helper for the Purple Knights, while Stevens turned aside 18 shots in the final two periods to preserve the one goal victory.

Sophomore Jane Baruch (Coventry, R.I./St. Mary Academy/Edgewood Lady Hawks) scored the lone marker for the Panthers, while senior Nicole Provencher (Guilford, Conn./Guilford/CT Polar Bears) stopped 18 shots.

The Purple Knights outshot the Panthers 6 to 4 during the first 20 minutes, but Plymouth State was able to get on the board first when sophomore Baruch tallied a power-play marker at 17:28.

Spulecki knotted the score at one, when she put one in the back of the net off of a feed from Santore at the 14:24 mark of the second frame. Santore put one in the back of the net at 4:31, which would prove to be the game winner, as Stevens made nine saves during the third period to preserve the one-goal lead. The Purple Knights killed off 4-of-5 Panther power plays throughout the contest and have won consecutive ECAC East contests for the first time since the 2007-08 season.

The Purple Knights travel to Gorham, Maine on Saturday to take on the University of Southern Maine for an ECAC East contest at 1 p.m.
