Senior Back Leads Rutland to 40-14 Win over Essex
Essex --- K.C. Mee ran for four touchdowns, leading a dominating Rutland ground attack, and the Raiders topped Essex 40-14, spoiling the Hornets Homecoming game on Saturday night at the rainy windy Essex Field.
Mee scored on runs of 11, 7 and 10 yards as the Raiders built a 20-0 halftime field. Then after his teammate Domenick Brown broke off a 52 yard TD run on Rutland's first play from scrimmage in the second half, Mee finished off his big night on a 4 yarder, giving the Raiders a 33-0 lead after three quarters.
Backup back Tre Hysell added a 7 yard run on the first play of the final quarter as the lead built to 40-0 before Essex finally got on the board as junior quarterback Joey Picard connected on TD passes to Matt Mulcahy and Trevor Yandow in the final eight minutes to account for the final score.
With the win Rutland is now 3-2 on the season. The loss drops Essex to 1-4.
