Sophomore QB Riehle Throws For Four Touchdowns
Burlington --- Sophomore quarterback Hunter Riehle threw for four touchdowns, three of them to senior wideout Will Thompson, and the South Burlington Rebels rolled to a 44-0 win over the Burlington Seahorses on Friday night at rainy Buck Hard Field.
Riehle and Thompson hooked up on a 24 yard TD pass just a minute and thirty-four seconds into the game to give the Rebels the lead for good. Up 7-0 SB added ten points in the second quarter as kicker Nick Wilson booted a 20 yard FG and Riehle and Thompson combined for a 13 yard scoring strike.
Burlington moved the ball well on their first possession of the second half, but the drive came apart when the ball slipped out of the hand of Burlington QB James Burt and was picked off by the Rebels' Bryon Ladd Jr. at the SB 32 and Ladd took it to the house for a 23-0 lead. Thompson then hauled in a 28 yarder from Riehle just over two minutes later to make it 30-0.
South Burlington finished off the scoring in the 4th quarter as senior quarterback Evan Nolting, who played most of the game as a running back and wideout, took a 45 yard pass from Riehle to the end zone and senior Tyler Abate stole the ball from a BHS ball carrier and ran it into the end zone from 33 yards away.
The win runs South Burlington's record to 3-1 on the season. Burlington is now 0-4.
