St. Johnsbury outlasts MMU

Molly Cantore hit an infield single that score Chelsey Toney with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning as the No. 4-seeded St. Johnsbury Academy Hilltoppers walked off in dramatic fashion, 9-8.

Lizzie Armstrong knocked an RBI triple in the top of the seventh for MMU that helped force the contest into extra frames.

Toney had two hits to pace the Academy offensive attack while Ally Bruckner ripped a double. Rachael Bridges earned the victory in the circle for the Academy.

The win advances the 'Toppers to the semifinals where they will face off against No. 1 BFA-St. Albans.
