The No. 3-seeded Lyndon Institute Vikings took care of business this afternoon as they advanced to the semifinals in Div. II softball by knocking off No. 6-seeded Otter Valley, 9-2.

Lyndon used a 12-hit attack to earn the victory and received strong pitching from Becca Simpson.

Simpson went the distance and scattered seven hits and walked just one while striking out four.

Hannah Ruede paced the Vikings offense with a 3-for-4 day while Kayla Franklin smashed two hits including a double while driving in three runs. Simpson helped her own cause at the plate with a pair of hits including a double.

Lyndon jumped on the board when Ruede scored the games first run in the home half of the first and they made it a 3-0 game when Shauna Poole and Kayla Franklin scored in the third.

The Vikings pulled away with three runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth before the Otters tallied their lone two runs in the top of the seventh. Marissa D'Avignon doubled in the seven for Otter Valley who ends the season at 9-9.

Lyndon advances to the semis to face the winner of Harwood/Mt. Abraham.
