Boy’s Hoop: Redhawks Win 11th Straight, Topping Rice 39-34

HINESBURG — The CVU Redhawks outscored the Rice Green Knights 25-15 over the middle two quarters and won their eleventh straight game, topping the Knights 39-34 on Monday night in the CVU Gym.

After a back and forth first quarter in which Rice opened up a 12-9 lead, the Redhawks defense held the visitors to just one field goal and only four points over the second eight minutes to take an 18-16 lead into the locker room at the break.

CVU then rode seven points from Walker Storey and five from Colin Monsey in the third, building as much as a nine point lead before Rice cut it to 34-27 after three. The Green Knights got as close as three early in the final session but could come no closer as the ‘Hawks held on for the win.

Storey led all scorers with 15 points while Josh Bliss added 10 for the Redhawks. Kam Farris led the Knights with 11, while Leo Chaiken added nine and Alex Bond chipped in seven points along with a bundle of rebounds and blocked shots.

With the win the Redhawks improved their record on the season to 15-1. Rice is now 10-5.
