Rutland stopped MSJ last night in boys basketball by a score of 57-23 as the Raiders move to 14-3 on the year.
The rivalry isn't the same of course as MSJ doesn't have the numbers to compete with Rutland anymore.. It was a good crowd last night, but nowhere near the overflow crowds of years gone by.
We are reminded again that it's only a game. MSJ and the entire Rutland community received some good news yesterday. MSJ student-athlete Josh Scaralia who was seriously injured after being hit by a car outside Rutland's Keefe Gym on December 30th returned to class yesterday. Josh who suffered a broken nose, fractured skull and had two blood clots in his brain has been recovering at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Center in Hanover.
Josh, who will never play contact sports again and says he doesn't remember anything about the accident, takes a little longer to learn things, has a ringing in his right ear and can't taste sweetness , but doesn't feel any pain.
Yes the MSJ-Rutland basketball game isn't the same and the football game is no more, but there are more important things in life.
Much more important! |
